Somia Showcases AI Innovation in Architecture at COAC & COAIB Event

Somia participated in the second edition of the “Artificial Intelligence and Architecture” event series, organized by the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) in collaboration with the Col·legi Oficial d’Arquitectes de les Illes Balears (COAIB). With over 600 architects in attendance, the event explored how AI is revolutionizing the field—optimizing processes, reducing costs, and unlocking new creative possibilities.

Showcasing AI for Historic Building Damage Detection

During the session in Palma, Somia presented a AI-powered solution for the detection of damages in historic buildings, developed in collaboration with Fundación Sewell in Chile. Our state-of-the-art deep learning models have demonstrated promising results in automating image labeling and damage assessment, significantly enhancing efficiency in heritage preservation projects.

The platform processed the labeled data, training a deep learning model specialized in recognizing damage patterns. The model learned to differentiate minor surface wear from severe structural risks, improving with each iteration. Using Somia’s automated model evaluation, the AI improved its ability to detect early signs of damage, making it a valuable tool for heritage preservation.

Introducing AI Agents for Architecture

In addition to our image labeling and model training platform, we introduced the concept of AI Agents—customizable assistants that can be tailored to architectural workflows. These agents empower professionals to streamline tasks, experiment with AI-driven insights, and integrate advanced automation into their projects at low cost.

Two Years of AI Education in Architecture

For the second consecutive year, our AI expert Dr. Tetiana Klymchuk, a mathematician and AI specialist, took the stage to bridge the gap between AI and non-technical sectors. This year, she went beyond AI fundamentals and presented a fully developed solution that enables architects to experiment with AI affordably, demonstrating its real-world applications in the field.

🚀 At Somia, we remain committed to driving AI innovation in architecture and beyond. We look forward to continuing our work in making AI accessible, practical, and transformative for the industry.
